Solution Behavior
Higher concentration → Increased opacity
As concentration rises, micelle formation increases, which can make the solution appear more turbid.
Lower temperature → Increased opacity
Reduced temperature can decrease solubility and micelle clarity, leading to cloudiness.
Hygroscopicity
PDS easily absorbs moisture from air and tends to agglomerate (cake), although the formed lumps are generally soft and not very hard.
Functional Properties
As a typical anionic surfactant, PDS provides:
